September 10 Kids in the Garden “Corn and Cornbread” from 10 a.m. to noon at Alta Vista Botanical Gardens.
Kids in the Garden Class features hands-on cooking activities. Taste and learn about how corn grows, and bake cornbread. Class fee is $5 per child, which supports the garden. Sep 10   MiraCosta Horticulture Club Meeting
The MiraCosta Horticulture Club will meet September 10th at 12:30PM, at MiraCosta College, One Barnard Dr., Oceanside, Student Center Bldg. 3400, Aztlan Rooms A & B 2nd Floor.  The workshop will be given by Betty Huston on plants you can use to repel mosquitos.  She will have some examples of the plants and some may be in the raffle at the end of the meeting!   Our main speaker is Jeff Moore, Owner of Solana Succulents who will talk about his latest book, 'Aloes and Agaves in Cultivation." He may bring some plants for sale and his book for sale and signing.  You may have seen Jeff’s outstanding design work at the San Diego Botanical Garden.  He designed the “seascape” adjacent to the parking lot.   After the main speaker is done there will be a plant raffle. The meetings generally finish around 3PM.  The meeting is open to the public. Our next meetings will be on the first Saturday of the month so you can plan for that.  We will have some excellent and informative speakers and member workshops.   For more information call 760 721 3281.

City of Vista and the Vista Chamber of Commerce hold the 6th Annual Vista C.A.R.E.s Business Walk in the Vista Business Park. The kick-off event will be taking place at 8:00 a.m. at the Hyatt Place San Diego Vista/Carlsbad Hotel. (C.A.R.E.'s program stands for Communicate, Assist, Retain, Expand).
This business retention and expansion program strives to keep businesses from relocating to other areas; helps businesses survive economic difficulties; assists businesses with expansions that create jobs; and helps firms increase their competitiveness.
Volunteer positions are available. Please call (760)726-1122 and we can pair you with a complimentary partner for the day. The two person team will administer short surveys to a targeted list of companies. We anticipate each team to complete 10 to 12 surveys between 8 am and 2 pm.
