"2 Across" by Jerry Mayor
The play centers around two strangers - alone on a subway at 4:00 am. Both are working on the New York Times crossword. When the man, (overcome with frustration), throws his paper in the trash the woman mocks his lack of patience and a 'crossword' competition begins. By the time they reach their stations, they find they have a lot more in common than 'crosswords'.
