Charcoal Self-Portrait Class

Beginners welcome! Learn the fundamentals of creating a realistic self-portrait using mirrors and your imagination. Explore a variety of techniques to arrive at the goal of an expressive portrait with local artist/instructor BJ Lane. In this class, you'll learn how to: • Draw the structure of a face • Use negative and positive space to recognize shape and dimension • Use light and shadow to create form • We will have fun practicing different drawing techniques to bring about a likeness of an individual. Each student will walk away with one finished portrait by the end of the class and have established beginning drawing techniques that will help them to begin to create portraits on their own. Great for beginning artists. We Will Supply: • Charcoal • Erasers • Mirror • Artist Aprons • Large pad of newsprint paper
