Are you interested in bidding on a Department of Defense (DoD) contract? If your company isn't able to show proof that you're working towards meeting the NIST SP800-171 requirements, you're putting current and future contract opportunities in jeopardy. In 2018, bid language will include sections stating your understanding and acceptance of the NIST SP800-171 requirements. With this clause in your contracts, lack of adequate documentation demonstrating both a System Security Plan and Plan of Action as it relates to the NIST control areas is grounds for having your contract “terminated for cause”. This workshop will include information, dialogue, and discussion about what these requirements are, who it applies to, and what measures a company can take to become and stay compliant. IT security and compliance engineers will break down the details of NIST compliance in a manner that is understandable to everyone and counsel contractors on choices they have in the ways to become compliant. Outline of topics covered: 1. Review of what NIST Compliance means 2. Discuss how and why NIST Compliance is being required 3. Highlight some of the more impactful changes affecting businesses 4. Outline how to start the process of becoming compliant. Attendees will leave with extremely helpful take away items and resources.
