Tax Assistance program to start

North County Lifeline will hold the Super Saturday kickoff event for the 2012 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program from 11 am to 3 pm Feb. 11 at 200 Michigan Avenue. Activities for kids, raffles, community resources, free tax preparation and e-filing for those who qualify will be featured. The VITA program provides free tax preparation assistance to low-income clients. In 2011, volunteers completed more than 900 tax returns. Volunteers include community members, college students, retirees, professionals and others. Low-income individuals and families can make an appointment for free tax-preparation assistance anytime during the 2012 tax season by calling 760-842-6225.
